Our methodology is balanced training — positive reinforcement layered with clear, fair boundaries. We don't bribe dogs into obeying, and we don't intimidate them either. Sit & Extended Sit
Your dog sits on command and holds the sit until released — even with distractions, even at distance, even when you walk away.
Down & Extended Down
Lie down on command and hold the down position — useful for vet visits, restaurant patios, family meals, and settling in any environment.
Place & Extended Place
Go to a designated spot — bed, mat, place stand — and stay there until released. The single most useful command for a calm household.
Come (Recall)
Return to you from any distance, in any environment, regardless of distractions. The command that keeps your dog alive when it matters most.
Heel
Walk politely beside you on a loose leash. Advanced programs add off-leash heel through high-distraction Houston environments.

How much does obedience training cost in Houston?
OLK9 Houston obedience training runs $500 to $5,800 depending on the program. Day Training tiers are $500 (Marker Mastery), $650 (Basic Obedience), and $1,000 (Basic & Advanced). Board & Train tiers are $2,200 (Basic), $3,000 (Advanced), and $5,800 (Elite). Most programs qualify for Affirm financing.
What's the difference between Day Training and Board & Train?
Day Training means you and your dog come to our Katy facility for private lessons — you learn alongside your dog and do the work between sessions. Board & Train means your dog lives with a pro trainer for 2 to 4 weeks straight while we install the foundation, then we hand it off to you. Day = hands-on owners. B&T = busy owners short on time.
Which obedience program should I start with?
Most Houston families start with Basic Obedience ($650) if they have time to do the lessons themselves, or 2-Week Advanced Board & Train ($3,000) if they want a pro to install everything plus lifetime refresher. New dogs and graduating puppies often start with Basic & Marker Mastery ($500). Take the quiz to match your dog.
Is my dog too old or too young for obedience training?
Obedience training is typically right for dogs 5 months and older — that's when their growth and socialization window has matured enough for structured commands. Younger puppies belong in our puppy training programs. There's no upper age limit — we routinely train senior dogs and rescues with great results.
What's the AKC CGC certification in the Elite program?
The AKC Canine Good Citizen (CGC) is the American Kennel Club's official certification for well-mannered dogs. It tests 10 real-world behaviors including reaction to strangers, polite greetings, walking through crowds, and extended sit/down/stay. It's a recognized credential used for therapy dog eligibility, service dog prerequisites, and apartment/HOA approval.
What is the "Obedience Lifetime Refresher"?
Included with the Advanced 2-Week and Elite 4-Week Board & Train, the Obedience Lifetime Refresher means we'll tune up your dog's training any time in the future at no extra cost. Does my dog need obedience before aggression training?
For most cases, yes — obedience is the foundation. You can't manage a reactive dog without commands they actually obey. That's why our aggression programs all include or build on obedience training.
