DOG TRAINING MISSOURI CITY, TX

Missouri City has 14 miles of trails and no off-leash park inside city limits, so every walk is a leash walk. Board and train at our NW Houston facility gets you a calmer dog for the price of two drives.

Off Leash K9 Training Houston trains Missouri City dogs at its facility at 12115 Fawnview Dr in NW Houston, about 33 miles from central Missouri City and roughly 52 minutes with no traffic by the Sam Houston Tollway and US 290 (from Sienna, about 41 miles). With that distance, a 2-week board and train is often the easier fit: you drop your dog off, we train every day, and you come back once for the go-home session. Private lessons at the facility are also available, and there is no in-home training. Rated 4.8 stars across 299 Google reviews.

WHY TWO DRIVES BEAT EIGHT

From Missouri City our facility is a real drive, so the program format matters as much as the price:

Starting pointDistanceTimeMain roads
Central Missouri City33.4 mi~52 minFM 1092 (Murphy Rd), Sam Houston Tollway, US 290, Jones Rd, Grant Rd
Sienna41.0 mi~60 minSienna Pkwy, Fort Bend Parkway Toll Road, Sam Houston Tollway, US 290

Estimates from the OSRM route planner with no traffic, using Census center points.

A 2-week board and train means two trips. Eight private lessons mean eight round trips. If you can make a weekly drive and want to learn every technique yourself, private lessons still work well; if not, board and train puts the hours of practice on our side and keeps your drive to a minimum.

MISSOURI CITY DOG RULES, IN PLAIN ENGLISH

Missouri City Animal Services enforces Chapter 10 of the City Code. The parts that shape everyday dog life (City Code on Municode):

  • No dog runs at large (Sec. 10-4). Off your property a dog must be on a leash or chain no longer than 20 feet, held by you.
  • In city parks the leash is 6 feet or less (Sec. 74-2), and the city states that no park inside city limits allows dogs to run off leash.
  • Register your dog with Animal Services once it is over 4 months old, within 30 days of its rabies shot, and keep the registration and rabies tags on its collar (Secs. 10-31, 10-32).
  • Four dogs and cats per owner is the limit for animals over 4 months (Sec. 10-6).
  • Barking, chasing and waste: excessive barking and chasing people, cars or bikes are nuisances (Sec. 10-69), and you must pick up after your dog on public property and other people's yards (Sec. 10-68). Fines start at $100 (Sec. 10-12).
  • Hot cars and outdoor dogs: leaving a dog in a parked car in a way that endangers it is illegal (Sec. 10-66), and Texas requires shade, shelter and water for tethered dogs (HSC 821.101 to 821.104).

MISSOURI CITY REALITIES WE TRAIN FOR

HOA neighborhoods, close neighbors

The city's map lists more than 50 homeowner and community associations, and about 82% of homes are owner-occupied. Barking and pet-waste complaints travel fast in close-knit subdivisions, so quiet and tidy habits pay off.

Coyotes

Missouri City Animal Services promotes living alongside local wildlife, and the city has held public sessions on coexisting with coyotes. A dog that comes when called and stays close on evening walks is a safer dog.

Brazos River flooding

Flooding along the Brazos and its levee districts has closed Missouri City streets in the past. A dog that loads into a crate calmly is ready if you ever need to leave quickly.

Long drives, hot cars

With a 50-minute drive to our facility, plan around the heat. Never leave your dog in a parked car, and bring water.
